The Beauty House Academy has an update
Some might call us “old girls” but for those of us that have been in the beauty industry for decades, we will tell you there are some things that haven’t changed much but there are others that have.
Our beauty training package has been updated, so next year we are excited to be delivering the new materials. So, what is changing at The Beauty House Academy for 2023?

In January 2023, we are launching the new SHB30221 Certificate III in Make-up, SHB40121 Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy and the SHB50121 Diploma of Beauty Therapy and a range of short courses.
We have listened to the modern student that wants flexibility and is proficient in the online world and so, our theory component will be completed mostly online. That doesn’t mean you are left in the dark! We will have weekly virtual sessions to frame each unit and nut out the core of each subject. You will also have access to our brand new online platform where you will find all your learning materials and assessments. The new platform is user friendly with heaps of exciting features.
Your time spent with us face to face, which is 2 days a week, will focus on practical skills. Our Student Pamper Clinic is where you will polish your skills while you perform your treatments on paying clients who, in turn for receiving a fabulous treatment at less then half industry pricing, will give you valuable feedback that will help you improve.
The new package has done away with some very old modalities that we haven’t seen in industry for over a decade! Body treatments that involved massage using vibrating machines (I know….. it sounds like something from the 60’s) have gone, as well as faradic machines, that while they have a place in physiotherapy were used in salons as “slimming” machines. Facials have also advanced and old technologies like microcurrent which needed clients to come into salon about 4 times a week for at least 12 treatments to see any results have been replaced by cosmeceuticals and technologies that deliver quick visible results in just 1 treatment. Microdermabrasion is still popular, with the newer hydra dermabrasion added to the unit .
We are super excited with the addition of Murad clinical skincare. Not only do they have products that deliver exceptional results, they also have an interactive digital training platform available for all our students and staff. This will provide all our students some extra tools to be industry ready. Murad is “Clinical, but cool. Doctor, but hardly dull. Science, but not stuffy.” Our trainers are in love with the range. They can’t wait to share with your all the knowledge they acquired the last few months about the brands and all the benefits it brings to the skin.

Inspired by Dr. Murad’s lifelong commitment to science-backed wellness, we create products and experiences not only for healthier skin, but for happier lives. At Murad, we’re committed to conquering the global health epidemic of stress. “Stress less. Be imperfect. Live longer.”—Dr. Howard Murad, Founder
Lash perming has been added to the lash and brow unit, as even though this treatment has been around for a while it is experiencing a surge in popularity.

We have finally got a unit called ”Sell to the retail customer”. Salon owners have been crying out for more training in selling retail as it is an essential skill for all staff to have.
There is also more focus on Infection control as education will prevent operators doing the wrong things and inadvertently spreading disease.
Before training Manicures and Pedicare we now teach the safe use of electric files. With the use of these time saving tools there is plenty of damage that can be done if they are used incorrectly.
With the rise of influences and social media marketing we now have a timely unit called “Maintain ethical and professional standards when using social media and on line platforms” Salons are promoting their businesses daily on social media and understanding correct etiquette will keep them out of hot water.
There is also a focus on the importance of the understanding the skin, body and nutrition, so that this vital knowledge can be incorporated into our treatments. So, thank you to the team of experts that gave valuable insights into how our industry is changing and how as an RTO we can better equip our students by teaching them relevant up to date skills.
We are so excited for all that is happening at The Beauty House Academy. Come along to our Open days on 25rd October and 22nd November or check out our website for more information.
I am a previous student of The Beauty House Academy and regularly visit to conduct Lycon Cosmetic Product Knowledge training. I believe the new delivery, along with students still having the opportunity to complete student practical clinics will produce exceptional therapists. I would approve the training and assessment strategy for the new courses.

The proposed learning activities offered in the new Diploma of Beauty Therapy will train the future therapists to Industry Standards. We can’t wait to be able to employ graduates with selling skills as well as the ability to provide exceptional treatments.
